Spring golf is underway for Hot Springs County High School with their first tournament being held in Buffalo this Friday. Head coach Jacob Smith said there are currently eight golfers out for the team, but is expecting more once the Spanish Club returns from Peru next week. The only new golfer, so far, is Cade McLean, a student Smith says has a solid background in golf. "I'm excited to see what he brings to the team," Smith said. The Thermopolis Middle School track team had their first meet Saturday, at the Greybull Middle School Invitational. The Hot Springs County High School track season got underway this last weekend, with the Yellowstone Sports Medicine Invite at Cody, and several of the Bobcats had strong showings with 10 personal records and many qualifying for state. The Central Wyoming Cutting Club will host its final cuttings for the year March 16, 17 and 18. The goal of the Central Wyoming Cutting Club is to create a fun, relaxed atmosphere for horses and riders of all skill levels to participate in and enjoy the wonderful sport of cutting. The Thermopolis Bobcats had a tough time at the 3A Regional Tournament in Buffalo last week, losing to Douglas 72-30 on Thursday, and to Rawlins 51-38 Friday. At the Wyoming State High School Championships Friday and Saturday, Star Valley claimed the 3A title by outdistancing Powell by more than 90 points with their 266.5 points for their encore state title.
