    The Thermopolis Middle School 8th grade "A" boys basketball team competed in their tournament in Powell last weekend, defeating Lander, Riverton and Worland to be named champion.     The Thermopolis Wrestling Club saw competition this past week at the North Big Horn Folkstyle Tournament. There was no team score available. In PeeWee, Raylan Rankin placed fourth in Division 49.     You may look outside and still see some ice and snow here and there, but spring is coming, and with it, youth soccer from the Hot Springs County Recreation District. Youth soccer is for student from kindergarten through sixth grade. Registration will be through March 7, and the registration fee is $20.     The Lady Bobcats hosted a make-up game against the Lady Buffs of Buffalo last Tuesday, losing on their home court, 34-73. Head coach Cory Sova said it was an "ugly first half."     The Bobcats faced two losses this past week, with scores of 69-25 against Buffalo on Feb. 13 and 73-35 at Rawlins on Feb. 16.     The Hot Springs County Rec District Adult Co-ed Basketball League saw its second round of games on Feb. 7. Carquest took on Merit, with Merit coming out on top with an 80-31 victory.     Last week, a few kids in the Thermopolis Wrestling Club attended the Rocky Mountain National Tournament in Gillette. Intermediate wrestler Cannon Boren, in Weight Class 74, placed second.     Registration is now open for the Hot Springs County Recreation District Smart Start Sports program. The program is offered for all kids ages 3-5, for basketball, soccer and baseball. It is a noncompetitive one-on-one with the child’s parent, focusing one developing fundamentals of each sport to teach the basics of each sport. Parent participation is required for the program.
