    by Mark Dykes The results are in — at least the unofficial ones — for the Primary election in Hot Springs County. Of the 1,996 ballots cast, 1,818 were Republican, 138 were Democratic and 40 were Nonpartisan. Looking at the local races, Jeremie Kraushaar won for Hot Springs County Sheriff with 544 votes.     The filing period for various county boards will be closing Aug. 28. There are three openings on the Hot Springs County School District’s Board of Trustees, all four-year terms. School board applications are available in the County Clerk’s office.     Though the Primary Election results show Mike Chimenti won the Mayor of Thermopolis race with 449, because this is a nonpartisan race the top two candidates will move on to the General Election. That means Mike Mortimore, who received the next highest number of votes with 273, will be on the General Election ballot. Similarly, the Thermopolis Town Council race is also nonpartisan. If you have discovered you aren’t going to be in town for the primary, your vote can still count if you do absentee early voting.
