For her piece, Kissel chose a recitation of the FFA Creed, which all members believe in. Thermopolis Middle School eighth grader Katie Burrows returned home from the Showalter Music Festival held Feb. 13 at Northwest College not knowing she had won a prestigious award for her vocal solo performance. Gavin Philips, a Hot Springs County High School graduate in 2001, has been hired by the Johns Hopkins Medical Center’s Institute for Cell Engineering to join an international team of doctors developing a new form of brain scan.
