    Christ the King Church, of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS), has opened locally for others to join them. They meet at the Big Horn Federal Community Room on Sundays at 9 a.m. for the Worship Service, 10 a.m. Bible Study and on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. for Bible Study. Most of the members currently attending originally knew each other from their previous times in Casper at the WELS church there.   • Update on damaged town flagpole

    Progress is being made to replace the Town of Thermopolis’ flagpole that was damaged by a windstorm on September 9. The damage prevented town officials from lowering the flag in recognition of September 11 and the town is unable to fly flags. They received assistance from the Thermopolis Fire Department, which is the only entity that can reach the top of the flagpole, to take the flags down and survey the damage. On November 7-9 bags will be placed on doorknobs of Thermopolis homes. Place your food donations of canned or dried food by your front door for pickup on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 8 a.m.-noon.     From Wyoming News Exchange newspapers 17-year-old girl hospitalized CASPER (WNE) — Casper police have a suspect in custody following a Halloween night stabbing that left a 17-year-old girl in serious condition at Banner Wyoming Medical Center.   • Pioneer Home hosts gala event to show off artwork

    On October 29, the Wyoming Pioneer Home held a gala art show that culminated eight weeks of art classes for participants. The event featured a variety of painted clay pieces designed by residents of the Pioneer Home and also members of the community who signed up for the program.     At the October Hot Springs County School District #1 Trustees board meeting, the principals of all three schools shared their accountability ratings and all the rankings for state assessment data. Hot Springs County High School Principal Catelyn Deromedi said, “Regarding our ACT rankings this year, the last couple of years, we’ve been ranked in the top three, as a district across the state.     Effective immediately, the Bureau of Land Management has lifted fire restrictions on all public lands administered by the Cody, Lander and Worland field offices within Big Horn, Carbon, Fremont, Hot Springs, Park, Sweetwater and Washakie counties, and a small portion of Natrona County that falls within the Lander Field Office area.     From Wyoming News Exchange newspapers Two Park County residents found dead; carbon monoxide poisoning suspected CODY (WNE) — Two Park County residents, Jeff McKearny, 64, and Steven Werbelow, 66, were found dead in their camper on October 23. The suspected cause of death is accidental carbon monoxide poisoning, according to county coroner Cody Gortmaker. In September 2023, the previous lodging tax was $26,482.25. Additionally, for August 2024, the lodging tax was $33,285.36 compared to August 2023, which was $37,638.88.
