Although people are observing tornadoes more often in Wyoming, whether actual tornado numbers are increasing remains to be seen. Between 2000 and June 2022, 23 Wyoming counties saw 122 tornadoes, 1 death, 9 injured and 24 with property damage. The storms ranged from F0 to EF3. Meteorologists used the Fujita scale through 2006, then developed the Enhanced Fujita scale in 2007 to classify tornado severity. Their most recent lodging tax revenue deposit of $17,792.08 was another record-breaking amount. This particular amount is from February, three months earlier. At the June 20 Thermopolis Town Council meeting held at the Town Hall, during citizen participation, Kevin Simpson, President of the Golf Board, requested additional funds for the repair and maintenance of the golf course. High water in Boysen Reservoir has caused flooding in areas and prompted park officials to temporarily close a small number of campsites and day-use areas. Portions of Tough Creek and Tamarask campgrounds have been affected by the flooding but other campgrounds remain open. Park staff have notified those with reservations affected by the flooding and relocated them to other campgrounds or canceled if necessary.
