Following a wind event the tore through downtown Thermopolis on Monday afternoon, a lightning strike started a fire in the Warm Springs area southeast of Thermopolis. The fire was reported around 3 p.m. Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department personnel quickly responded to the scene. The fire grew to a reported 1,600 acres as of Tuesday morning.
