With the start of school just around the corner, it is time once again for the People for People Backpack program to get rolling. The program is a group of volunteers in the community dedicated to stopping hunger for local children by filling backpacks with food that are distributed on Friday’s so they have something to eat over the weekend. Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital Foundation, Inc. is bringing back its Annual Golf Tournament. For many years, the Foundation hosted an annual golf outing at Thermopolis Golf Course, to raise awareness of the Foundation’s Mission to support Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital. Hunter education graduates are invited to attend the local Youth Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC) on Saturday, August 15 at the Bob Milek Memorial Range eight miles west of Thermopolis on Highway 120. Barb Kissel and Dave Eckley were a few that lined up to start sampling the chili at the Thermopolis FFA Alumni's Chili Cook-Off during fair. Mandy Wilson and Cassie Owsley, on the right, were just two of the eight cooks that participated in the annual event that precedes the beef show. The deadline to get your entry in for the 2020 Gift of the Waters Parade is today, Thursday, July 30.
