Friday, September 11 the Hot Springs County High School Cross Country team will be holding a 5k Glow Run as a fundraiser for their upcoming season. Just about a year ago, Hyrum Rich left his home to stay in Aguascalientes, Mexico as part of the Rotary Youth Exchange Program. Originally, he was to stay there for 10 months, both going to school and traveling the country, however, COVID-19 brought him home before the end of his stay. The audience really turnout for the Thermopolis Demolition Derby was huge. All tickets allowed were sold out. Masonic Lodge volunteers took tickets and donations for their remodeling. Many vendors came to sell their food and drinks. It was an all around community event....
Ag Olympics tested the best of the teams during the HSC Fair. Five six-man teams participated in several ag related events which included hay bale rolling, wheel barrow race, sheep herding on bicycles and the tire roll relay. With the cancellation of the annual pig wrestling, the Thermopolis FFA Alumni opted to bring back Ag Olympics to fill the Tuesday night slot at fair. The 2020 Junior Livestock Auction and Blue Ribbon Bake Sale at the Hot Springs County Fairgrounds on Friday night was a huge success, with total sales amounting to $180,195.25, up from $123,146 last year. Along with sheep, swine and beef, there were baked goods that went on the auction block, too. Twenty-two head of beef came through the ring this year, three more than went up for auction last year. With the start of school just around the corner, it is time once again for the People for People Backpack program to get rolling. The program is a group of volunteers in the community dedicated to stopping hunger for local children by filling backpacks with food that are distributed on Friday’s so they have something to eat over the weekend. For many years, the Foundation hosted an annual golf outing at Thermopolis Golf Course, to raise awareness of the Foundation’s Mission to support Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital.
