    Some area ranchers have moved or are in the process of moving their cattle herds to higher pastures for the summer. Traditionally horses are used to move the herd as it is easier to navigate the terrain. ATVs are also used as sometimes it is necessary to move other ranchers cows out of the way to enable the moving herd to easily pass through faster. This herd heads for higher ground and greener pastures up in the Owl Creek Mountains....

    Hot Springs County High School class of 2024 graduate Porter McCumber qualified to compete at the National High School Finals Rodeo held in Rock Springs July 14-20. McCumber qualified in two events, cutting and saddle bronc. At state, he placed second in cutting after winning the second go around. He placed third in saddle bronc. The top four in each event qualified for nationals. McCumber is up Monday and Friday in saddle bronc and Tuesday and Thursday in boys cutting....

    The Hot Springs County Library held a special event for their Summer Reading program kick off last Friday. Featured performer was Charlie Williams, also known as the "Noiseguy" who is from Washington. The room was packed with kids who all learned about how to make mouth sounds for "outside" use and read some very funny books. Williams performs at schools and libraries with his "Sound Safari."
