Silas is raising funds for his Wyoming 4-H Cross Cultural trip to Italy next summer. Several youths competed in the cash calf scramble during the Thermopolis FFA Alumni Ranch Rodeo last Saturday evening. Jim Christensen holds on tight in the wild cow riding event. Contestants competed in various events including team doctoring, wild cow milking, trailer loading, wild cow riding and the blind barrel race. Some area ranchers have moved or are in the process of moving their cattle herds to higher pastures for the summer. Traditionally horses are used to move the herd as it is easier to navigate the terrain. ATVs are also used as sometimes it is necessary to move other ranchers cows out of the way to enable the moving herd to easily pass through faster. This herd heads for higher ground and greener pastures up in the Owl Creek Mountains....
