The sixth annual Harvest Moon Ball is set for Saturday, Nov. 12 at the Hot Springs County Fair Building. The ball is open to the public and features dancing, food and will honor local ag citizens. Hawk’s Avenue of Flags will be going up on Veterans Day, Friday, Nov. 11 beginning at 8 a.m. at Monument Hill Cemetery. The memorial was created in memory of Airman First Class Donald L. “Hawk” Hawkins, by his wife Betty Hawkins and daughter Julie Lehman, but it is for all veterans. Monument Hill Cemetery was chosen because it is where Hawk was laid to rest. The Thermopolis Community Blood Drive by United Blood Services will be from 3-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14 at the Hot Springs County Senior Center. A community blood drive is held in Thermopolis every few months. The goal at each drive is to collect 25 pints of blood. A benefit for the Tom Lea family will be held at Thermopolis Middle School on Friday, Nov. 11. Lea, who worked with the Hot Springs County School District in the bus garage, passed suddenly and the family could use help with final expenses. Along with a chili feed with all the fixings, there will be a silent auction and bake sale courtesy of the bus garage employees.
