The Hot Springs County Weed & Pest and University of Wyoming Extension Service will be conducting a Private Applicator Training on Tuesday, March 14 beginning at 9 a.m. at the weed and pest office, 711 Springview St. The training is for individuals that require a pesticide applicator certification in order to purchase and use restricted pesticides. The Hot Springs Democratic Committee met on March 1 at the Hot Springs County Annex. The meeting was well attended by local members of the Democratic Party with the addition of two special speakers. Hot Springs County’s 4-H members are hosting the 3rd Annual Chili Dinner and Dessert Auction on Saturday, March 11. Thermopolis will be the site of the premiere performance of a musical piece composed by Janet Ahlquist, internationally recognized classical pianist, who grew up in Thermopolis and now lives in Pennsylvania. The 10 students competed against Lander, Lovell, and Powell in four different rounds, the Sprint, Target, Team and Countdown. The Hot Springs County Senior Citizens Center is currently taking orders for cinnamon rolls. Executive Director Chanda Waddell said the rolls will be made on two Saturdays — March 4 and 11 — and Monday, March 13.
