With the decrease in temperatures, you can grab something to warm up with some cinnamon rolls through the Hot Springs County Senior Center. Orders are currently being taken, and the rolls will be available for pick up or delivery on Saturday, Nov. 3 and Saturday, Nov. 10. Last Saturday the Hot Springs County High School marching band competed at the state marching festival at the Casper Events Center, performing their show "Women of Pop" and earning an Excellent rating, a 2 on the three-point scale where a 1 is a Superior and a 3 is Good. The Friends of the Library will be holding their annual fall book sale this Friday and Saturday, Oct. 19-20 at the armory. Table upon table will be filled with books of all kinds, including children’s books, ready to go home with you for your winter reading when the snow flies. Get ready for a night of fun as our Lights On program presents a Glow-A-Thon to celebrate National Lights On on Monday, Oct. 29 from 6-8 p.m. in Hot Springs State Park. The weather was certainly a factor in the fifth annual Oktobrewfest being a popular event this past Saturday. Though recent years have seen cold and rain for the event, this years had warmer temperatures and at least a bit of sunshine. Hot Springs County will have 21 students competing at 4 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 13 at the state marching festival at the Casper Events Center. Band Director Drew Brown said this is the first time in about 20 years that Hot Springs County High School has had a band participate in the event, and encouraged the community to come out and support them. The 17th annual pumpkin patch, provided by Hot Springs County Sheriff Lou Falgoust, will be at the front of the Law Enforcement Center on Friday, Oct. 19 and Saturday, Oct. 20, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. each day. The Hot Springs County High School Robotics teams have been busy with designing and developing their creations, with their first competition — a scrimmage hosted here — coming up on Nov. 10. Teacher London Jenks said the competition this year is utilizing cubes representing gold and whiffle balls representing silver.
