The Wyoming Quilt Trail project is coming to Thermopolis. Brightly painted quilt blocks displayed on homes, garages, barns, and buildings in the community will be the result. Beginning in Lusk in 2016, the goal of the Wyoming Quilt Trail group is to extend the display of blocks from one end of the state to the other for residents and visitors alike to enjoy as they travel through towns and the countryside. Hot Springs County High School students will be celebrating prom on Saturday, May 5. As it falls on Cinco de Mayo, the prom committee decided on a Cinco de Mayo theme and added some new things to the traditional rite of spring. Those looking to catch some trout on the Big Horn River might have a slower go of it than they have in previous years. According to Wyoming Game and Fish Regional Fisheries Supervisor Sam Hochhalter, a survey of the Wedding of the Waters area, which includes from Wedding to Eighth Street, showed there were 1,100 trout per mile. In comparison, a 2016 survey showed 2,700 trout per mile. The drop in trout, Hochhalter explained, is due to poor survival of the stock fish and no natural recruitment...

This spring, our fourth graders at Ralph Witters Elementary School experienced two wonderful trips overnight in Yellowstone National Park. The first trip stayed at the YCC (Youth Conservation Corps) in Mammoth from March 9-12. The second trip stayed at the Lamar Buffalo Ranch in Lamar Valley from April 16-20.
