Thermopolis Middle School Lights On will host its first ever cribbage tournament on Friday, March 16 at the middle school gymnasium and commons area, beginning at 5 p.m. Elisa Daniels said the tournament is open to everyone, no matter what their skill level in the game. Kathy Sorenson and Brandi Collins will be hosting a benefit dinner and cookie jar auction for Tracy Loughlin at the VFW on Friday, March 23 beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tracy has been dealing with serious medical issues since the middle of February. The Thermopolis Gymkhana Series will host its Bucks for Buckaroos event this Saturday, March 17 at the Hot Springs County Fairgrounds, beginning at 6 p.m. There will be a chili feed as well as a silent auction. Adults are $10, and kids 12 and under are $5. The Wyoming Game and Fish Department will conduct six open-house meetings throughout the Bighorn Basin with one final meeting in Worland to discuss 2018 hunting season proposals for game birds and big game. Emergency Management coordinator Bill Gordon attended a meeting last week in Riverton which included information on river flows from the Bureau of Reclamation’s Casper Control Center. Gordon said the bureau has determined there will be no flushing of the Wind River this year. After the high flows in 2017, the Wyoming Game and Fish requested no flushing flow be sent downstream this year. Currently, the release from Boysen Reservoir is at 2000 cubic feet per second (cfs). The Hot Springs County Speech and Debate team attended their State Tournament last weekend in Lander, coming home with a fifth place win. Last week, students and staff members at Hot Springs County High School challenged themselves through the Badcat Obstacle Course Race. The course took them through and around the school, as well as the Ralph Witters Elementary (RWE) playground and into Hot Springs State Park.
