The Hot Springs State Park pavilion will be home to several concerts over the next few months for this year’s Sounds of Summer. The series kicks off with Aaron Davis & The Mystery Machine. The Hot Springs County Recreation District is gearing up for the Jr. Bobcat Boys basketball camps in June. There will be two camps during the month with different age groups in each. The Masons of Thermopolis are hosting a catfish and hushpuppy dinner as a fundraiser for the benefit of Marty Turner, who has been fighting throat cancer for a second time and has been travelling to Lander for daily treatments. Turner is the owner of TNT Auto Service and has been unable to work and has no insurance. The Meeteetse Museums will host its annual tour of Legend Rock State Petroglyph Site on Saturday, June 9. This year’s tour will be led by John Fish, Assistant Superintendent of Hot Springs State Park, and Marit Bovee, Archaeologist and Paleontology Coordinator out of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) office in Worland. Time is getting close for the 29th Annual Big Horn Basin Football Camp in Thermopolis on June 18-20. The public is invited to join the Hot Springs County Daughters of the American Revolution and VFW Auxiliary to celebrate Flag Day on June 14 with the rededication of a memorial grove honoring those men who gave their lives for our country in World War II. During the June 14, 1945 Flag Day tribute was paid to the men from Hot Springs County who died in World War II. The Wyoming Dinosaur Center is accepting scholarship nominations to attend the 2018 Kids’ Dig scheduled for June 23. The scholarships are sponsored by local businesses and pay for kids to attend the daylong event. The cost is regularly $100 per child. Nominated kids must be from Hot Springs County, be ages 8-12 and not participated in a previous Kids’ Dig. Cutoff date for nominations is June 20, and nomination forms can be picked up at the center. Citizens are invited to a public meeting about an upcoming highway improvement project inside the Thermopolis city limits on Thursday, May 31. The Hot Springs County Fairgrounds will be home to the 2018 Hot Springs Junior Livestock Show this Friday at 1 p.m. The order of the show is swine, heifers, beef and lambs. Hot Springs State Park will be the site for the 26th annual Hot Spot Car Rally on Father’s Day weekend, June 16 and 17. The first rally was at Big T Drive-In on Shoshoni, and featured 34 cars. The event has grown over the years, bringing in 140 or more vehicles some years.
