The VFW will be home to a cookie jar auction for John Gerrells on Friday, July 13. Gerrells recently underwent colon cancer surgery also has to have a heart surgery. Gerrells actually began the cookie jar auctions back in 1993, Meredith VanAntwerp said, with the very first done to help the state championship football team to raise money for a trip to Australia. The Hot Springs County Recreation District is gearing up for the Jr. Bobcat Volleyball Camp, starting Monday, July 16. The week-long camp will be held at the high school, with high school players and coaches running the camp.
