The day will begin with the placing of Hawk’s Avenue of Flags at Monument Hill Cemetery, beginning at 7 a.m. The Avenue of Flags was turned over to the Big Horn Basin Riders this year and the group would appreciate any volunteers who would like to help place the flags in the morning and then take them back down before sunset. Beginning this Thursday, Nov. 1 Department of Family Services will be taking applications for the annual Elf Tree. Annette Arey with DFS explained if someone feels they will not be able to provide Christmas presents for their children — ages 0-17 — they can stop by the DFS office at 403 Big Horn and pick up an application with pertinent information related to the child and gifts, such as what they would like to receive and clothing size. The Thermopolis Dinosaur Center will host a Dancing with the Dinosaurs fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 6-10 p.m. The entry fee is 10 per person, with hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar available.
