Ralph Witters Elementary will be home to the Student Music Festival on Saturday, March 24. Over 130 students will be attending, 12 of them from Thermopolis. Music teacher Mary McGillivray said the event is done through the North Big Horn Basin Music District, and area schools bring students to play in Honor Recorder, Honor Choir and Honor Movement/Drumming. Remington Ferree presents the FFA Creed during the regional competition Tuesday afternoon. Ferree tied for second in Districts, and placed fifth in Regionals. Saturday night at the Hot Springs County Fairgrounds, the Thermopolis Gymkhana Series hosted their Bucks for Buckaroos event and raised about $1,500 that will go to year-end awards for this year’s Gymkhana series. During the regular meeting of Hot Springs Travel and Tourism, Director Amanda Moeller said Thermopolis will be home to the Wyoming Office of Tourism board meeting on Tuesday, April 17 at 8 a.m. She expects many of the members to stick around and attend the Travel and Tourism Board meeting, which is the same day. Main Street Thermopolis and Big Horn Federal are teaming up this year to clean up Thermopolis in recognition of Earth Day with the first Adopt-a-Block program. Volunteers are being recruited to clean one block (one side of the street) between April 1 and April 22, which is Earth Day.
