    A new event has been added to the Hot Springs County fair this year – a carcass contest – which will be held on Tuesday, July 24 at 6 p.m. at the Hot Springs County Fairgrounds. The fair board will pay for the first animal, up to two species, for each youth. If you want to enter more than one animal in a species, there is a $7 charge per extra animals.     Cub Scouts Pack 5053 has reorganized and is looking for new members. This a nondenominational pack, meaning there are no restrictions to any specific religion. There were a total 79 entrants for this year's show, though that is down by about a third and the drop is likely due to the rainy weather.     This weekend, celebrate Father’s Day with a trip to Hot Springs State Park for the annual Hot Spot Car Rally, June 16 and 17. The first rally was at Big T Drive-In on Shoshoni, and featured 34 cars. The event has grown over the years, bringing in 140 or more vehicles some years.     The Hot Springs County High School Student Council is preparing for the Tour de Wish this Saturday. In conjunction with Make a Wish Wyoming, the student council will be holding a 5k ride and walk in Hot Springs State Park, starting at 9 a.m. Open registration begins at 8 a.m. All proceeds from the event will be used to grant a wish for a terminally ill child.     It may only be the middle of June, but the Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department is busy planning for the 4th of July fireworks display and are unfortunately coming up short. According to fire chief Mark Collins, it takes about $12,000 to create a 20-30 minute display.     The warm weather allowed the June Gymkhana Session to be held outside at Hot Springs County Fairgrounds.
