    The annual Gift of the Waters pageant is presented the first weekend in August. The Women’s Chorus would welcome new singers. Ellen Mortimore, who began singing in the pageant in 1957 and continued for more than 30 years, is offering rehearsals for new singers beginning the first Sunday of July, the first, starting at 4 p.m. at Community Federated Church.   • Gallery opening at museum

    The Hot Springs County Museum will host the “Nick Eggenhofer” gallery opening this Saturday at 2 p.m. The gallery will feature original pieces of western art from Eggenhofer, from dry brush “pulp magazine” illustrations to full color detailed depictions of western life. The display will be on the north end of the museum, near the Hole in the Wall Bar and entrance to the downstairs area. The area has been expanded and enhanced with some new Eggenhofer items.     Barbara Campbell, left, and Barbara Webber were among the many volunteers helping out at the T-town Cancer Crusaders fundraiser Saturday. All proceeds from the event will be given to local cancer patients who need financial assistance.     A plaque recognizing 24 men from Hot Springs County who gave their lives in World War II is passed during a rededication of the memorial grove for the soldiers. The rededication was done by the Hot Springs County Daughters of the American Revolution and VFW Auxiliary, and during the program it was noted many of the original green ash trees in the grove are still standing.     Next week, when we celebrate Independence Day on Wednesday, July 4, the festivities will include the annual fireworks show from the Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department from the top of T Hill.     A new event has been added to the Hot Springs County fair this year – a carcass contest – which will be held on Tuesday, July 24 at 6 p.m. at the Hot Springs County Fairgrounds. The fair board will pay for the first animal, up to two species, for each youth. If you want to enter more than one animal in a species, there is a $7 charge per extra animals.
