The Wyoming Conservation Corps replaces buck and rail fencing in the buffalo pasture on May 30. The fence, which is about 50 years old, suffered significant damage in that time from buffalo trying to break through from one side and livestock from the other. One of the bigger Thermopolis events for the summer is the Cowboy Rendezvous Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) Rodeo. A 4K walk/run and an 8K run in the buffalo pasture will start at 8 a.m. this Saturday in Hot Springs State Park. Registration for the event is $15 prior to Saturday, and $20 the day of the event. Hot Springs State Park is hosting their second hike of the summer with a trip to Legend Rock this Saturday, June 15. Measuring over 1,300 feet long, there are more than 92 prehistoric panels and more than 300 petroglyph figures. Under the protection of the State of Wyoming since 1973, the site is one of the most fragile in the state’s park system. Hot Springs County Museum is currently providing free admission for active duty military personnel and their families, as they are part of the Blue Star program which runs from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The museum has always had a policy of allowing military members in for free, but through Blue Star that courtesy now extended to their families.
