    This coming year, 2020, marks the year for the U.S. census to be taken throughout the country. Getting an accurate count of everyone in households across America is extremely important, not just for population counts, but the census is used to determine all manner of federal funding.   • Red, white and blue golf tourney planned

    July would not be complete without the annual Red, White and Blue Golf Tournament at the Thermopolis Golf Course. There is no registration necessary to participate in the event you simply play 18 holes between July 4 – 7, picking six red holes, six white holes and six blue ones.     Hot Springs County’s Cowboy Hall of Fame committee will be recognizing this year’s inductees during the PRCA rodeo on Saturday, June 22. During the evening’s rodeo performance the committee will be reading the nomination letters sent in on behalf of Mary Sue and Hugh Vass as well as Norman Sanford. Both the Hot Springs and Fremont County committees will honor the inductees at the Fremont County rodeo on July 27.     The H Diamond W Ranch will be very busy next week as the 4-H Shooting Sports Camp gets underway, Thursday through Saturday. The camp includes 4-H members from age eight and over and will focus primarily on weapon safety and understanding the range commands. All disciplines will be covered during the camp – rifle, pistol, archery, muzzle loading and shotgun.     Set aside some time the end of June to attend the 2019 Hot Springs County Natural Resource Tour. On Thursday, June 27, the public is invited to meet at the Hot Springs County Weed and Pest office at 711 Springview at 9 a.m. to go on the free tour. This year will focus on Wind River Canyon, including noxious weed control, canyon geology, Wind River Canyon Whitewater and the history of Boysen Dam. A free BBQ lunch will be served.     Nine members of Thermopolis FFA are currently attending the FFA Leadership Camp near Lander. Founded in 1978, the camp is the premier leadership training for Wyoming FFA members as well as those from other states. The camp strives to provide the best leadership training around at an affordable cost. Originally held in the Ten Sleep Mountains, it found its permanent home in 1993 at the Fremont County Youth Camp. The program is done through Volunteers of America, Mathews explained, and law enforcement officers throughout Wyoming work with local school districts to identify students that might not otherwise have a lot of opportunities.
