    The Hot Springs County High School speech and debate team traveled to Cheyenne last weekend for the Cheyenne East Holiday Classic Tournament to start out their season. The Holiday Classic is one of the largest tournaments in the state with 1,000 participants representing 28 schools from both Wyoming and Colorado. Senior Breeze Petty worked her way through the competition to break into Super Congress, the top 16 at the tournament. Petty competed last summer in student congress at the National Tournament and is continuing her run as a legislator...

  • Free Christmas dinner

    Tidings of comfort and joy will be in abundance at the Annual Christmas Dinner provided by People for People at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. The free Christmas meal is open to everyone, regardless of denomination, from noon until 2 p.m. at the church at 642 Arapahoe. Dinner will include all the traditional dishes like turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole and a variety of salads and sides along with a table full of desserts.     The Hot Springs County Senior Citizens Center announced that their popular Hobby Night classes, The Thermopolis Writers League and the Jewelry Making class will not be meeting again in 2019 but will resume in early January 2020.     Thermopolis Middle School girls basketball teams finished off their seasons this last weekend with the seventh grade team taking on Worland at home and the eighth grade team on the road to Worland to take on Cody and Burlington.     The Hot Springs County High School Drama Club recently participated in the Wyoming State Thespian Festival (previously named Wyoming State Drama Competition) and returned as State Champions in 1A/2A for the second year in a row. Twenty-four students went to the festival and were entered into 15 different categories. They brought home 18 AllState Medals and 11 Honorable Mention Certificates.
