For those looking for an opportunity to help someone in need, the Hot Springs County Senior Center will be home to a Thermopolis Community Blood Drive on Monday, Nov. 11 from 3-7 p.m. Melene Mierzejewski said 34 units is what is being requested. Thirty slots have been filled, but that doesn’t mean you can’t donate. Walk-ins are encouraged and appreciated, and refreshments are available. The Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) encourages Wyoming students in grades 3-9 to enter a poster contest aimed at increasing awareness about radon and radon testing. “We know there is a lot of creativity out there among Wyoming youth. The Thermopolis-Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce is continuing toward possibly having a parade during the holiday season. Chamber Executive Director Meri Ann Rush said a survey was put out, and from those results it was determined the community does want the parade, though the number or float entries is lacking. Rush has to have 15 entries by Nov. 8 for the parade to happen. She explained this deadline allows time to obtain insurance and pull permits for street closures. Those interested in helping the community and expanding their knowledge can sign up for EMT classes, which will begin Nov. 4 Jim Lash, who will be the primary instructor for the classes, said they will be Mondays and Thursdays from 6-10 p.m., and occasionally on Saturday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Classes will typically be at the Thermopolis Fire Hall, though could also be at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital. The VFW Auxiliary No. 2281 will be hosting a soup supper, with a variety to choose from, on Friday, Nov. 1 from 5-7 p.m. at the Post Home, 302 Broadway.
