The Wyoming Dinosaur Center recently received grant funding from the Wyoming Cultural Trust Fund for $8,000. Nearly $125,000 was awarded to 24 projects around the state that vary from historic preservation and facility infrastructure to online art exhibits, music festivals and much more. The Thermopolis Cowboy Rendezvous PRCA Rodeo has been canceled for 2020 due to COVID-19 health orders. The rodeo was scheduled for the last weekend in June. Local committee members had worked with committee members from other large rodeos around the state for months to decide the future of their events. Hot Springs County Recreation Adult Softball is currently in season with only three teams playing. Those teams are One Eyed Buffalo, Robin Batsman and One Stop Sparkplugs. Anja Abbott, Recreation Director, reported that on Thursday, June 11, One Eyed Buffalo won the first game against Robin Batsman at 6:30 p.m., and One Stop Sparkplugs won the second game at 7:45 against Robin Batsman. Storyteller in Thermopolis is once again participating in the Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative’s Cups4Cups event to raise money to support increased breast health services across the state. Originally planned for April, the group placed the event on hold due to COVID-19, but with restrictions loosening, they are finally able to hold the event this Saturday, the first day of summer. The new T-Hill hiking trail is providing new recreation in Hot Springs State Park. Dusty Lewis, treasurer of Hot City Alliance, said, “As far as how they’re going it’s been really well received. Traffic has been pretty steady. From a community standpoint, it’s been a big bonus. We have made a huge step in building recreation in this town with that trail. The organizational committee for the Annual Gift of the Waters Pageant has announced the event will not be held this year due to COVID-19. Barb Vietti, head of the organization, said it is out of concern for the elders of the Shoshone Tribe that the decision was made to cancel this year. On Saturday a 28-pallet delivery arrived from Food Bank of the Rockies at the TMS parking lot. Twenty-five volunteers helped distribute the food that included both fresh fruits and vegetables, canned goods and frozen items to feed 804 people....
