    4-H and FFA youth had the opportunity to have their fair beef project's hooves trimmed on Wednesday at the fairgrounds. Kevin Nicol comes to Thermopolis every year to trim hooves.     Wyoming Hot Springs State Park (HSSP) has volunteers from all over the country who come with their RVs and help with the maintenance of the park. All of them feel extremely fortunate to spend their retirement years collaborating in gardening and upkeep. The relationships of the volunteers have become quite close and collegial.     If you’re looking for something fun to do with the little ones on the 4th of July, a kiddie parade will be going on in Hot Springs State Park at 10 a.m. Decorate your strollers or wagons, let the kids decorate their bikes and parade around the main sidewalk in the park. Meet at the parking lot by the Kiwanis shelter to join in the fun. There will also be a free 5k run/walk earlier that morning, starting at 7:30 a.m. to avoid the heat.     The Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department will be doing their annual fireworks show for the July 4th Independence Day celebration, according to Fire Chief Mark Collins. He said that they are about $5,000 short on funds for the show compared to what they normally collect in previous years. They usually budget between $12,000 to $14,000 for a typical show.     The Wyoming Dinosaur Center recently received grant funding from the Wyoming Cultural Trust Fund for $8,000. Nearly $125,000 was awarded to 24 projects around the state that vary from historic preservation and facility infrastructure to online art exhibits, music festivals and much more.   • PRCA Rodeo will be back in 2021

    The Thermopolis Cowboy Rendezvous PRCA Rodeo has been canceled for 2020 due to COVID-19 health orders. The rodeo was scheduled for the last weekend in June. Local committee members had worked with committee members from other large rodeos around the state for months to decide the future of their events.     Hot Springs County Recreation Adult Softball is currently in season with only three teams playing. Those teams are One Eyed Buffalo, Robin Batsman and One Stop Sparkplugs. Anja Abbott, Recreation Director, reported that on Thursday, June 11, One Eyed Buffalo won the first game against Robin Batsman at 6:30 p.m., and One Stop Sparkplugs won the second game at 7:45 against Robin Batsman.   • Storyteller to participate in Cups4Cups event

    Storyteller in Thermopolis is once again participating in the Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative’s Cups4Cups event to raise money to support increased breast health services across the state. Originally planned for April, the group placed the event on hold due to COVID-19, but with restrictions loosening, they are finally able to hold the event this Saturday, the first day of summer.     Jennifer Fisher and Forrest Coleman-Weisz approached the Town Council asking if they could have a street dance featuring well-known music artist Chancey Williams.
