Thermopolis Cowboy Rendezvous Committee will hold a Ranch Rodeo on July 18 at 6 p.m. at the Hot Springs County Fairgrounds. The events will be team doctoring, wild cow milking, branding, ribbon roping, trailer loading, hide racing and wild cow riding. Wyoming Hot Springs State Park (HSSP) has volunteers from all over the country who come with their RVs and help with the maintenance of the park. All of them feel extremely fortunate to spend their retirement years collaborating in gardening and upkeep. The relationships of the volunteers have become quite close and collegial. The Wyoming Dinosaur Center recently received grant funding from the Wyoming Cultural Trust Fund for $8,000. Nearly $125,000 was awarded to 24 projects around the state that vary from historic preservation and facility infrastructure to online art exhibits, music festivals and much more. The Thermopolis Cowboy Rendezvous PRCA Rodeo has been canceled for 2020 due to COVID-19 health orders. The rodeo was scheduled for the last weekend in June. Local committee members had worked with committee members from other large rodeos around the state for months to decide the future of their events. Hot Springs County Recreation Adult Softball is currently in season with only three teams playing. Those teams are One Eyed Buffalo, Robin Batsman and One Stop Sparkplugs. Anja Abbott, Recreation Director, reported that on Thursday, June 11, One Eyed Buffalo won the first game against Robin Batsman at 6:30 p.m., and One Stop Sparkplugs won the second game at 7:45 against Robin Batsman. Storyteller in Thermopolis is once again participating in the Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative’s Cups4Cups event to raise money to support increased breast health services across the state. Originally planned for April, the group placed the event on hold due to COVID-19, but with restrictions loosening, they are finally able to hold the event this Saturday, the first day of summer.
