According to Hot Springs State Park Supervisor Kevin Skates, the ice skating rink will open on Wednesday, December 21. The ice skating rink is located at the softball field closest to the fairgrounds in the Hot Springs Rec District area. Skates said there is a horse trailer that contains skates, hockey sticks, field goals, and pucks to use. Skates asks that everyone be respectful and return all items back to the horse trailer when done. Hot Springs County Search and Rescue has a new side-by-side vehicle with snow tracks. Search and Rescue member Casey Freund, said the Polaris Ranger Crew 1000 Northstar edition vehicle was approved by the County Commissioners in 2021. The cost to the county was $23,061.99. Maycle Fern Boyd Wilson was a kind, thoughtful and loyal daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was born May 2, 1929 at Midwest Wyo., her family moved to Thermopolis shortly thereafter where she lived the rest of her life. She passed away on December 17, 2022, in Bozeman, Mont., at the age of 93. She was living at the Spring Creek Inn Memory Care Community. She was married to Willard Wilson in 1947, and they were married for 67 years. Her life centered around him, and she missed him dearly when he died in 2014.... Full story
Betty Jo St. Clair of Thermopolis, Wyo., went to be with our Lord on Wednesday December 7, 2022, at the Hospice of the Valley in Surprise, Ariz. She was a loving wife, mother, homemaker, and friend. Betty Jo was born in Thermopolis, Wyo., to Bill and Goldie (Richardson) Johnson on November 28, 1933. She was the second oldest of 5 children. The Bobcat wrestlers varsity team was in action at the Battle of the Big Horns dual tournament in Worland over the weekend. The Bobcats had a great Friday in pool matches going 2-1 overall. The varsity boys Bobcats traveled to Glenrock last Friday to take on the Herders, pulling out a win in a close 70-63 game. At the December Thermopolis-Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce board meeting, Kristen Gunther of Otterspace made a presentation about electric vehicle (EV) charging and their project with the chamber. Gunther explained the different types of charging, with some taking many hours and others types that take 15-30 minutes.
