At the December 6 Thermopolis Town Council meeting, the council passed a resolution for a budget adjustment that was originally adopted in June. This allowed the council to pass a second resolution that would pay for the extensive asphalt repair and the water project. The money for these costs will come from the general fund. At the first December Hot Springs County Commissioners meeting, Brian Clarkson and Maddie Ross of T-O Engineers gave the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) update. They reported they have scanned septic permit documents from 1985-1988, 1993-1997, and 1999. Those files were then returned to county planner Bo Bowman. The Buffalo Creek Foundation donated a doll house that went up for auction at the Christmas Tree Festival and will now be on permanent display at the Wyoming Pioneer Home for the public to enjoy. The foundation's representative Sue Blakey and her mother Bea Seaver were the third owners of the doll house when they purchased it in 2000. Originally built in 1979, the first owner is not known. Wyoming Pioneer Home resident Bobbie Butler recently turned 100 years old and a birthday party was held in her honor with family and friends attending. Bobbie was born in Oakley, Kansas, but grew up in Neosho, Missouri. Harry Duane Ahrens, 85, passed away Monday, December 5, 2022, at Hot Springs Health in Thermopolis following a period of declining health. Born February 11, 1937, in Elmwood, Neb., he was one of five children of Harry and Marjorie (Miller) Ahrens. Joining the Army in 1957, he served as an electronic signal intelligence in Shemya Island, Alaska, where he tracked Russian rocket tests. Milo Warnick passed away on November 14, 2022, at his home in Thermopolis, Wyo., surrounded by his family. Milo was born June 25, 1955, in Livingston, Mont., to Rodney "Roy" Warnick and Violet S. The First Annual Angel Shop sponsored by Redeeming Hope Ministries, led by Miranda Nelson, was held at the Community Hall last Sunday. The Bobcat varsity basketball team had their first competition of the season at the Burns Classic last week. Coach Shane Corpening stated, "The boys played really hard. From a defensive standpoint, we were flying around and forcing turnovers. I thought we did an okay job of rebounding the ball. The Bobcat Wrestlers started their season at the Powell invitational last Friday and Saturday with over 500 wrestlers competing. This was by far the largest that this tournament has been with teams from Wyoming and Montana competing. Friday the boys competed in pool wrestling trying to make the bracket on Saturday for placing. The Lady cats started their season last week at Torrington High School. Coach David Villa said, “We knew we would be facing a feisty team from last year. This is the first year that girls wrestling is sanctioned in Wyoming and the Lady Cats will have four girls that will be making history all season long. Last year Wyoming had under 50 girls wrestling a mixed season with boys. This year, during weight certification, the state has over 200 girls registered.
