Though nearly four months past, the total eclipse across Wyoming and the country is still being talked about and likely will be for months to come. Monday in Hot Springs District Court, a trial was scheduled for Jan. 16 in a case against James Folsom, who has pleaded not guilty to second-degree sexual assault of a minor. Alternatively, he is charged with sexual assault of a minor. An alternate charge means the judge, or jury should the case go to trial, could find him guilty of either. Wyoming State Parks and Historic Sites is now taking bids for the purchase of buffalo from Hot Springs State Park. Each year the state sells a portion of their herds in order to maintain breeding as well as feeding grounds. This year there will be four heifer calves from 2017 available along with five of this year’s bull calves, two yearling bulls from 2016, a yearling heifer, a two-year old bull and a 10 year-old breeding bull from our herd in Hot Springs State Park. Karen "Kate" Kay Enis, 78, passed away suddenly on Friday, December 8, 2017, at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyo. Born December 22, 1938, in Marcus, Iowa, she was the daughter of Roy E. and Bernice (Riedeman) Whetstine. The family later moved to Owl Creek, Wyo., where her father worked on ranches and she attended the Owl Creek School. Karen enjoyed the ranch lifestyle, the horses and the livestock. C.R. Burnell passed away suddenly at Swedish Hospital in Denver, Colo., on December 7, 2017. He was born on June 26, 1951, to Rex E. and Donna Mae (Skinner) Patterson in Thermopolis. After his father was killed in a car crash, his mother married Dick Burnell and the two families blended.
