The Thermopolis-Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce has a blessing tree located outside of their office located at 220 Park Street. Citizens wishing to place a blessing on the tree can stop by the office during regular business hours (Mon.-Sat. 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Sun. 10 a.m.-3 p.m.) to pick up a red tag. Then, simply write your blessing on the tag and place it on the tree. On December 24 at 10 a.m., blessings will be given for the tags located on the tree. Local performers Cody Burrows and Andy Stone of Burrows-n-Stone will be performing Friday, Dec. 11 from 4-5p.m. at the Hot Springs County Library. Hot Springs County High School seniors Adam Hanson and Sean Miller took part in a regional Wyoming art contest sponsored by the U. S. Army Recruiting Center in Cody. The recruiting center was looking for volunteer art students to paint a ceiling panel for their building that represented pride in our community and pride in our country. The first Thermopolis Town Council meeting for the month of December had all members present. There was a brief report from the town engineer by Anthony Barnett. Director of Public Works, Ernie Slagle reported the new snow blower is working fabulously. The town crew spent a day training on the new piece of equipment before using it. The Thermopolis-Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce Retail Committee started the 21 Days of Christmas giveaway Nov. 28 during Small Business Saturday. To enter, make a purchase at a participating Thermopolis business. Put your name on the back of the ticket and deposit it at the collection box at the business. On Saturday, Dec. 19 all the tickets will be collected, and a drawing will be held at Bicentennial Park at 2 p.m. First prize is $500, second is $300 and third is $200. The Christmas Basket program is in need of more canned goods, boxed meals and other non-perishable food. Donations of canned fruit and vegetables, boxed meals such as macaroni and cheese and Hamburger Helper along with boxed potatoes and stuffing are needed. You can drop food off at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church at 7th and Arapahoe.
