The Thermopolis - Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a lighted Christmas parade on Saturday, Dec. 10 with the theme “Winter Wonderland.” The parade will travel through downtown. A Jingle Bell Jaunt 5K Run/Walk fundraiser will be held on Saturday, Dec. 10 with registration opening at 10:30 a.m. and the race starting at noon. At the November Hot Springs County Travel and Tourism board meeting held at the Quality Inn, treasurer Audra Dominguez gave the financial report for lodging tax revenue collected in September. Dominguez said that the flooding of Yellowstone National Park still had an impact on revenue. September’s revenue was $26,212.08, which was down $2,803.57 from the previous year, a 10% change. The Wyoming Transportation Commission awarded $22.76 million in contracts for seven Wyoming Department of Transportation construction projects during its November 17 business meeting. One of the projects will be in Hot Springs County. The commission also awarded an almost $1.1 million bid to Buffalo-based Barnum, Inc. for a project that involves grading, drainage, paving and other work on more than 3.5 miles of US Highway 20/Wyoming Highway 789 in Hot Springs County. The Bobcat Speech and Debate team started the season with a strong showing at the Green River Speech and Debate Tournament with a third place trophy. The two-day tournament with 15 schools and over 300 competitive entries included categories for Novice and Varsity competitors. The Bobcats brought fifteen students to the competition. At their November meeting, the Hot Springs County School Board brought the livestock judging team of the Thermopolis FFA Chapter in for a round of recognition, after their outstanding performance at the American Royal in Kansas City, Missouri, this fall.
