At the November 14 Hot Springs County School District #1 board meeting, business manager Jessica Benefiel presented a request for the board to consider approval for a depreciation reserve expenditure. The November 24 house fire on Black Mountain Road claimed the home of TJ and Cassie Owsley. The house is a total loss. According to Fire Chief Mark Collins, the cause is not known at this time, but there may be an investigation into the cause. The family was out of town at the time of the fire. Our loving brother, Terry “Buster” Lackey passed away in Billings, Mont., on November 3, 2023. Terry was born to parents Bob and Ruby Lackey in Wichita Falls, Texas, on January 28,1961. Ralph Witters Elementary (RWE) has announced opportunities for members of the community to support students and teachers during the Christmas season. A teacher Christmas tree is located just inside the front entrance of RWE through December 19. Teachers will hang ornaments on the tree with ideas for classroom items they need.
