The dust has settled from the 2022 General Election with winners being declared and those who have been newly elected preparing to take over in January, 2023 when official swearing ins will take place. Gary Holbert has been declared the winner of the mayor race in East Thermopolis. He received 40 write in votes, winning over Jeremiah Ramsey who received 26 votes. The River of Life Church is preparing to move into its new building location. The church, led by Pastor Joe Moon, purchased the building in March. It used to be the Elks Lodge and the former Wax Museum. They are finishing up construction, including the fire suppression system. The pipes for the fire suppression are currently being fabricated. Kenneth W. Smith, 87, died Saturday, November 5, 2022, at the Hot Springs Health Hospital in Thermopolis. He was born on March 29, 1935, in Crawford, Neb., to Anthony and Cora (Curtis) Smith. He attended schools in Worland, Wyo. At the age of 17, he joined the Air Force and was an MP stationed on the Azore Islands. Last Thursday, the Thermopolis Middle School wrestling team hosted a quad duel with Lander, Riverton and Worland. To start the night out, the Bobcats won thirteen out of twenty-two matches against Lander.
