Last Friday at about 5:11 p.m., there was a 4.2 magnitude earthquake about 39 miles east-southeast of Thermopolis. Around town people might have felt a slight tremor, heard a strange noise or didn't even know the quake had enough force to be felt here until they saw something on the news or social media. Monday in Hot Springs District Court, Ambra O’Brien pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance. The charge stems from a July 1 incident, during which O’Brien was found to have Oxycodone. O’Brien was picked up after a report came in of her walking down the center line of Highway 20 near mile marker 134. On Saturday, Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. there will be a turkey shoot at the Bob Milek range. Participants can compete with shotgun and/or pistol at the event, and there will one turkey awarded per squad of five. There a $7 entry fee per squad position. Deanna Deloris Deibert, 59, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital following a bout with cancer. She was born August 2, 1958, in Portales, N. M., the daughter of Richard and Audrey (Arnold) Gibson. She grew up in Fremont County, Wyoming, where she graduated from high school. Robert “Bob” George Hatfield, 90, passed away on Oct. 18, 2017, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center, following the effects of a fall at his home. Bob was born on Jan. 13, 1927, in Thermopolis, Wyo., to William and Cora Hatfield. After graduating from Thermopolis High School in 1945, he promptly served in the Army in World War II and in South Korea until 1947. In honor of Veterans Day, the next meeting of the Hot Springs County Historical Society will feature a program on “Korea: The Forgotten War.” The Korean War began in 1950 as a conflict between North Korea, backed by communist countries like China and Russia, and South Korea, which had the support of the United States as well as the United Nations. He further explained Meri Ann Rush ran the business previously to respond those with immediate printing needs. The Lady Bobcat volleyball team finished their 2017 season with an up and down trip to the Regional Tournament in Newcastle. The girls played Douglas first, and according to coach Shannon Hill, it was the best they have played against the Lady Bearcats.
