At the October 3 Hot Springs County Commissioners board meeting held at the Annex, the commissioners held a discussion about the Requests For Information for the development of the old airport property. At the October 3 Thermopolis Town Council meeting, Chief of Police Pat Cornwell reported that they hired a part-time officer who is from Big Horn County who will be in Thermopolis uniform and vehicle. Cornwell said “Maybe down the road” the position will be full time. Town Engineer Anthony Barnett reported that the boiler at the water plant has seals that are leaking glycol and that it is a maintenance issue. They are currently looking for parts. Broadway Bakery has "soft-opened" at their downtown location of 509 Broadway Street. According to owner Sarah Slagle, their current hours are from 7:30-11 a.m., seven days a week. They have a temporary occupancy permit which allows baked goods to be sold. Every day, Broadway Bakery sells different donuts, scones, muffins, pastries, and bread. Joyce Marie Pitt Fletcher passed away on October 10, 2023, at Banner Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyo. Born on May 21, 1941, in Thermopolis, Wyo., Joyce was the first of Theodore and Marie Pitt's two children. She graduated from Hot Springs County High in 1959, then went on to Beauty School in Casper. Norman Dane Jenniges, or "Duffy" as he is known to most, was born on June 13, 1946, to Valentine Jenniges Sr. and Rebecca Schleve in Hot Springs, S. D. He lived in Hot Springs for most of his youth and attended Hot Springs area schools. Duffy's first job was as a meat cutter for a butcher in a local grocer. The Thermopolis Bobcats traveled to Cokeville last Friday for a game against the second place Panthers. With an early morning travel schedule, and after a nearly five hour bus ride, the Cats rolled into the western part of the state, and arrived in the town of Cokeville.
