The Lady Cats volleyball team fell short against Lovell and Shoshoni this week, ending a string of successes that lasted almost two weeks prior to Saturday's Homecoming game against Shoshoni. Tuesday's Thermopolis Town Council meeting was short but productive. Town engineer Heath Overfield reported that all projects are progressing as scheduled. The only caveat was the Cedar Ridge water tank relining will have to be postponed until March of next year due to the weather getting colder. The Hot Springs County Commission set aside Tuesday $28,000 from their emergency expenditures which will pay for the Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital’s forthcoming Master Facility Plan. The $28,000 for the plan, which will be undertaken by Erdman Healthcare Strategic Planning Services, will include only the undertaking of the plan itself and not the extra expenses which include travel, accommodation and food for Erdman employees. Main Street Thermopolis declared their second annual Oktobrewfest a huge success during its monthly meeting on Oct. 1. The group, which was organized to improve the town’s historic district, said they raised almost $10,000 during the Sept. 23 event which featured local beers, music, games for children and adults alike, and brought tourists from as far as Billings and Greybull. Reverend William Wayne Meier, 85, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital after a period of declining health. Born March 5, 1930, at home in Lincoln County, Kan., he was one of eight children of Harold and Lillie (Schroeder) Meier. As Valedictorian of his class he graduated from high school in Beverly, Kan. Janet L. Blakesley, 70, passed away Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, at Hospice House in Rapid City, S. D. Janet was born December 13, 1944, in Worland, Wyo., to William and Vivian (Duncan) Brooks. Her sister Joyce joined the family a few years later. She married Danny Rush in April of 1965 in Thermopolis, and they had two children. In May of 1995 she married Richard Blakesley. Clarence Glen Hall, 87, of Worland, passed away on Sept. 30, 2015, at the Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was born June 16, 1928, in West Hollywood, Calif., to Forrest and Marjorie (McQueen) Hall. His half-sister, Veda (Frank) Kappel, was seventeen when he was born. Land surveyor Rick Hudson and professional engineer Anthony Barnett will present a program titled 1901 Thermopolis Town Corners at the Hot Springs County Historical Society meeting Saturday, Oct. 10.
