Hunting with Heroes Wyoming is a non-profit and charitable organization founded by veterans to give back to disabled veterans. Main Street Thermopolis is launching “Great until 8!” to promote businesses in Hot Springs County to stay open until 8 p.m. on the second Saturday of the month, beginning Saturday, October 9. Jim (Jimmie Allen) Dowdy passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loved ones on September 24, 2021. He was born September 19, 1933, to William and Ada (Van Orsdal) Dowdy in Fort Lupton, Colo. Jim was the 11th of twelve children, and the last to be called home to the Lord. Jim served in the United States Marine Corps for four years in Korea and was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant. Gene Melvin Halstead, 75, passed away, Friday, October 1, 2021, at Hot Springs Health in Thermopolis after a period of declining health. Born June 27, 1946, in Dillon, Mont., he was the son of Wayne and Nola (Fournier) Halstead. Living in Armstead, Mont., Gene was active in 4-H Club and active in Little League Baseball. On September 13, a dedication was held for two new structures at the Community Garden. The garden is located at the northwest corner of the intersection of East Arapahoe and Buffalo Street in East Thermopolis, near the hospital and Red Rock Family Clinic. The two structures are a shed and a picnic area. About 25 people participated in the dedication. The Bobcat football team traveled to Cokeville last week and came away with a 46-12 loss to the 5th ranked Panthers. “The team battled all day but in the end, the inability to take care of the football caught up with them. The team was plagued by dropped passes and poor quarterback/center exchanges,” said coach McPhie.
