At the September 20 Thermopolis Town Council meeting, concerned citizen Gene Boehmke brought up his issues with the construction work being done on Richard’s Street, specifically between 7th and 8th Streets. The Wyoming Highway Patrol has issued a report with details of Saturday’s fatal head-on vehicle collision south of Thermopolis in Wind River Canyon. The report states, on September 24, a fatal crash occurred at milepost 121.4 on US 20. Around 10 a.m., Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers were notified of a motor vehicle collision. The 2022 Hunting with Heroes Jeff Strong Memorial Hunt will be held Sept. 30-Oct. 2 in Hot Springs County. Betty Jane Rickman, 80, passed away at Hot Springs Health Wednesday, September 21, 2022, following a time of declining health. Born December 4, 1941, in Heavener, Okla., she was one of four children of Willie and Winnie (Rex) Johnson. On July 20, 1956, she married John D Rickman in Yuma, Ariz. Frieda Smith passed away on September 6, 2022, in Bozeman surrounded by her family. Frieda was born on July 19, 1932, to Dwight and Nora Smith. The Varsity Bobcat football team claimed a homecoming victory against Rich County, Utah for their homecoming game last Friday. Coach Matt McPhie said, “In a back-and-forth game, Roedy Farrell scored the go-ahead touchdown with just over a minute left in the 4th quarter.” Farrell plunged into the endzone from 2 yards out to give the Bobcats a 27-24 lead. Hot Springs County High School rodeo team members competed in Wheatland last weekend. It is the final high school rodeo event scheduled for 2022. Events will pick back up in 2023 to finish off the 2022-23 season. Results, with placings through tenth, include: Roedy Farrell was second in bareback riding on Saturday with a score of 64 and first on Sunday with a score of 66.
