    by Mark Dykes Beginning Oct. 4, Chris and Pat Vosler will be providing Grief Share, a Christian program sponsored by First Baptist Church and Hot Springs County Hospice, for those who have lost loved ones. Chris and Pat are the leaders for the programs, and Sharon Skiver and Mary Falgoust also help.     This Saturday will be your last chance for some fresh from the garden veggies with the final Farmers Market of the season. Market coordinator Sonja Becker said they have had a great season with more vendors than they’ve had in the past. “We had 19 vendors on our biggest day,” she said. “Before, our biggest number had been 12.” Now, at the end of the growing season, with the threat of a freeze looming, everyone is cleaning out their gardens and bringing down their final harvest.   • Seats open for motorcycle safety course

    The Wyoming Department of Transportation’s motorcycle safety Basic Rider Course is this weekend at the WYDOT building, and seats are still open. The course is designed for those without any experience, but motorcycle riders of any skill are welcome. The cost for residents is $50. Successful completion of the course is the testing waiver for the M CLASS endorsement. Motorcycles and helmets will be provided. Motorcycles are the most fuel efficient class of highway vehicle.   • Unemployment rate drops in HS county

    Unemployment numbers for the month of August have been released by the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, showing Hot Springs County’s unemployment rate dropped from 3.7 percent in July to 3.1 percent in August. While that may seem like a significant drop in unemployment, it is necessary to realize the actual workforce in the county dropped by 49 people, either through moving out of the county, retiring or otherwise leaving the workforce.     Josh Schmidt, a veterans service officer from the Wyoming Veterans Commission, will conduct community outreach services in Wyoming cities through October. Schmidt is the new service officer for the Big Horn Basin, and is replacing Brad Cline. Schmidt will be available in Thermopolis on Thursday, Oct. 12, noon-2 p.m. at the Hot Springs County Museum.
