Last week Hot Springs County School District (HSCSD) reported their first positive case of COVID-19 in a letter sent out to parents and guardians of Ralph Witters Elementary students. At the Sept. 15 Thermopolis Town Council meeting there was scheduled to be a report on the Thermopolis Golf Course updates, but no representative was present. During the September Travel and Tourism meeting for September, Matt Hughes, Treasurer reported that he changed the format of the financial reports and reduced redundant work in order to aid efficiency and times saving measures. The board already receives data from their account at Koerwitz et al. and they no longer have to recreate the reports. Clifford Norman Claypool, 78, passed away at his daughter's residence in Thermopolis on Monday, September 14, 2020, while under the care of Stillwater Hospice. Born May 14, 1942, in Flint, Mich., he was one of four children of Norman and Betty (Coon) Claypool. After graduating from high school, he served in the US Army Airborne. Betty Jane “B. J.” Dunbar, 77, passed away at her home on Red Lane in Thermopolis, Wyo., on February 3, 2020. She was born on December 22, 1942, in Hillsdale, Mich., the daughter of Billie James and Donna (Fink) Houghtby. She married John G. Dunbar on July 23, 1961, in Cambria, Mich. The Wyoming High School Activities Association (WHSAA) announced that the Wyoming Department of Health (WDH) has approved their plans for beginning basketball and wrestling on time. A Pulled Pork Dinner and Cookie Jar Auction benefitting 22-year-old Tori Lynn Rollins will be held Saturday, Sept. 26 at the Hot Springs County Fair Building. Tori is the daughter of former Thermopolis residents Justin and Elaine Rollins. In July, she was diagnosed with a rare cancer called Synovial Sarcoma.
