    A $3.3 million highway improvement project is continuing through the Town of Thermopolis on US20/WY789, and asphalt milling activities are slated to begin Wednesday, Sept. 2. Prime contractor is McGarvin-Moberly Construction Co., of Worland. “Milling activities are going to impact traffic and parking throughout the length of the project,” said Wyoming Department of Transportation project engineer Jordan Erz of Worland. “During milling, traffic movements will be limited to half of the roadway with single-lane traffic in each direction.” The pro...

    During the Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital board meeting, CEO Margie Molitor praised both Nina Landis and John Gibbel for their leadership during the recent roof leak. Molitor was on vacation during the leak which was caused by a major rainstorm. She said they kept the hospital operational even though they had to divert trauma patients that needed CT scans for a short period of time.     Hot Springs County Search and Rescue held a unique poker run last Saturday on the Bighorn River. All the participants floated or paddled their kayaks and other flotation devices from point to point along the river, picking up their poker hands before the final stop at the boat ramp in Hot Springs State Park.     An extension to Wyoming’s current public health orders released today by the Wyoming Department of Health contain no changes. The orders, which remain in effect through September 15, continue to allow outdoor gatherings of no more than 50% of venue capacity, with a maximum of 1,000 people as long as social distancing and increased sanitization measures are in place.
