  • Schwan pleads not guilty to homicide case

    In Hot Springs District Court Monday,34-year-old Matthew Schwan pleaded not guilty to a charge of aggravated homicide by vehicle. He was originally charged with driving under the influence with serious bodily injury following a May 14 incident in which he allegedly ran over Reilly Schwan following an argument. The charge was amended after Reilly’s death on June 4. A wrongful death suit is also being pursued in the case....

    On Sunday at 2:12 p.m., the Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department responded to a grass fire off of West Sunnyside Lane. Chief Mark Collins said the fire, which burned about 7.5 acres, started after a transformer arced when a bird flew into it. There was also some fencing on an adjacent property damaged.     The U. S. Supreme Court — the law of the land — ruled that same-sex couples nationwide can marry last June. The law states that state-level bans on same-sex marriages are unconstitutional. However, Pinedale municipal Judge Ruth Neely has been suspended from her position as a circuit court magistrate in Sublette County.     Gladys Marie (Cable) Richter, 63, passed away on Aug. 24, 2016, due to complications. She was born in Perryton, Texas, on Dec. 1, 1952, to Clyde Brown and Mary Frances (Seay) Cable. She graduated from Riverton High School in 1972. She moved to Thermopolis a little while after, where she met and married Robert (Bob) Richter on Dec. 19, 1977.
