At the August 18 Hot Springs County Commissioners board meeting held at the Annex building, the commissioners voted and passed the approval of a corrective quit claim deed for Alfred T. Graham and Ada F. Graham. The original property document was recorded in 1986 that contained some errors. It took a very long time for the issue to be resolved. Certified land surveyor R. L. The Town of Thermopolis is continuing its water project and now work begins on Richard Street between 6th and 7th Streets. It is between Mack's Market and Family Dollar/Dollar Tree, Merlin's Hideout and Kirby Creek Tannery. The water pipes underneath the surface need to be replaced due to age and the potential for leaking, which makes the soil to be very loose and unstable. A cookie jar auction fundraiser will be held for Michele LaBeau on Saturday, Aug. 27 beginning at 5:30 at the Hot Springs County Fair Building. A sloppy joe dinner with sides and dessert will be served with the auction to follow. During the Primary Election Day on Tuesday, August 16, the polling location for the Town of East Thermopolis Precinct 2-1 and the Town of Kirby Precinct 3-1 had to move due to flooding at the County Museum. Mary "Jolene" Esquibel, 63, passed away suddenly, August 14, 2022, at her residence in Thermopolis. She was born July 13, 1959, in Butte, Mont., the daughter of Joseph and Irene (Atkinson) Casey. Jolene graduated from Butte High School in 1977. After high school she entered the work force as a teller at First Bank Butte. Jeanne René Johnson, formerly of Concordia, Mo., passed away at the Wyoming Pioneer Home in Thermopolis, Wyo., on August 14, 2022. Jeanne was the daughter of the late Charles Lloyd and D. Kathleen Johnson. Jeanne was born on May 15, 1958, in Holton, Kan. She lived on ranches in Kansas, Oklahoma and Nebraska, a dairy in California and a farm south of Concordia during her childhood.
