    This weekend will be the Club Championship at the Thermopolis Golf Course. The course will be closed during the tournament both Saturday and Sunday.     Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital (HSCMH) held a public meeting at the Senior Center Monday night to discuss public concern regarding hospital billing practices and answer questions about Medicare and standard health insurance practices. The hospital was prepared with more than just an array of food and handouts - multiple staff members, covering all billing and reception areas of the hospital, were on hand to answer questions.   • Relay raises over $21,000

    More than $21,000 was raised last weekend during the annual Relay for Life in Hot Springs State Park. Organizers said the event went very well, and in spite of a bit of wind as things got started, the weather was great overall. Things started off with a dinner for the survivors and their caregivers along with those participating in the relay. Kids filled the area of the park where the relay was held, enjoying everything from a sprinkler park to face painting while the adults walked the course....

    Along with the start of school comes the start of fall athletics for Hot Springs County High School and Thermopolis Middle School. First practices for high school sports begin Monday, Aug. 17.     “Senior Momentum, Use It or Lose It”, was the theme for the 2015 Senior Olympics held in Sheridan, where five Thermopolis residents competed in several events. Gloria Simmons spent her time in the pool, earning a gold medal in the 100 freestyle, 100 side stroke, and 50 side stroke and a silver medal in the 200 freestyle and 25 sidestroke.   • Bear relocated from near Thermopolis

    On August 9, a subadult male grizzly bear was captured and relocated for frequenting developed areas near Thermopolis. In cooperation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Bridger Teton National Forest, the bear was relocated to the Bailey Creek drainage in Bridger Teton National Forest approximately 15 miles northwest of Moran, WY.
