The 2019 Junior Livestock Auction at the Hot Springs County Fairgrounds on Friday night was a success, with total sales amounting to $123,146. Along with sheep, swine and beef, there were lots of baked good that went on the auction block, too, from cookies to cakes and even coffee. The baked goods sold for $6,775 with the high seller being Silas Dickey, whose basket of goodies sold to ABL Consulting for $775. During the Family Fun Nite at the Hot Springs County Fair, the inflatables were again a big hit. During their Tuesday night meeting, the Thermopolis Town Council approved rate increases for water and sanitation, as well as landfill charges. Council approved Resolution 555, which amends Ordinance No. 841 to raise the base rate from $18 to $18.90 per month for all in-town and out of town users for each single unit and per single unit in a multiple unit. Longtime Thermopolis resident, Mary King, 92, passed away in Billings, Mont., Thursday, July 25, 2019. She resided at her home in Thermopolis until a few days before her death. Born September 30,1926, in the small coal mining town of Kleenburn, Wyo., she was the daughter of John and Anna (Wagner) Bury.
