    It’s time for the younger generation to show their stuff at the Wyoming Junior Rodeo Association (WJRA) rodeo July 25 and 26 at the Hot Springs County Fairgrounds. The WJRA is expecting 40 to 50 cowboys and cowgirls. Performances start at 10 a.m. on Saturday, 9 a.m. on Sunday, and Cowboy Church will be offered at 8 a.m. on Sunday.   • Summer band runs August 3-20

    The Hot Springs County Recreation Department will be offering their annual summer band program August 3-20 at the high school band room. The program will offer beginning and advanced music lessons along with music theory and all-state mentoring. Upcoming 5th grade students through seniors in high school are invited to attend the music program.     Seven Wyoming kids visit Washington D.C. and experience the big city for the first time with subways, commuter traffic, historic landmarks, and even fireflies.   • Ward gets initial approval on land use change for gravel pit

    Paul Ward came before the Hot Springs County Planning Commission last week with a request to change a portion of his property from agricultural to industrial. Ward would like to take approximately 14 acres of his land above the irrigation ditch and create a gravel pit. The area in question is something of a hill, approximately 20 to 30 feet above the ditch, and Ward intends to basically level out the land, removing the gravel in the process.
