The 2015 Thermopolis Cowboy Rendezvous PRCA Rodeo had a great turnout last weekend, bringing visitors and cowboys from not only the U.S. but several distant countries as well. Darren Leonhardt and Logan Kay competed at the National Speech and Debate tournament in Dallas, Texas last week as the grand finale to their 2015 speech season. Leonhardt competed in World Schools Debate, a five-person team event that brought competitors from Korea, Mexico, Saipan, China and other countries for the week-long event. The Big Horn Basin Riders are planning another great 4th of July Freedom Run in Thermopolis and Hot Springs County with fun for everyone. Things kick off Friday, July 3rd with a meet and greet at the armory at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come enjoy the music, drinks and bonfire scheduled for that evening. Guest artists from England, Maryland and Wyoming, will be featured at the Spinster’s Delight, an all-day fiber event, July 6, in Thermopolis. A needle-felting workshop featuring petroglyph site symbols, will be held from 1-4:30 p.m., with Nancy Jones from Riverton. Jones has been needle-felting for 10 years and is a member of the Fremont Fiber Guild. Hot Springs County High School recently achieved extra bragging rights for the 2016 graduating class. In April 42 junior classmen took the ACT, a national college admissions exam that tests students in English, mathematics, reading and science, along with approximately 1,845,000 other students across the country.
